Fort Lauderdale Homes & Condos For Sale and For Rent

Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful coastal city located in Broward County, Florida and it is the second-largest principal city of the Miami Metropolitan Area.  The City is located north of Dania Beach and the City of Hollywood, and south of Lauderdale by the Sea and Pompano Beach.

Founded in 1838 and incorporated in 1911, the City of Fort Lauderdale takes its name from a number of forts that once existed in the area that was named after a commanding officer, Major William Lauderdale, who served in the area during the 2nd Seminole War.  It was not until fifty years after the last of these forts were abandoned at the end of the Seminole War that construction of the city we know today began.

Today, Fort Lauderdale is known as the “Venice of America”, the city is a boater’s paradise.  Fort Lauderdale is  home and, in some cases, headquarters to many of the major yacht builders and marine-servicing companies.  The City of Fort Lauderdale also features over 100 marinas and over 50,000 registered yachts, and the city features over 160 miles of inland & Intracoastal Waterways & canals!  In addition to being the Yachting Capital of the World, Fort Lauderdale’s port, Port Everglades, is the third-largest cruise port in the world.

Fort Lauderdale real estate is a popular choice for both buyers and renters due to its close proximity to the beaches, waterways, and attractions of South Florida. The city has a diverse range of housing options, from luxurious waterfront mansions to more affordable apartments and townhomes.

The demand for Fort Lauderdale real estate has been steadily increasing in recent years, leading to a tight housing market with low vacancy rates. As a result, prices for both buying and renting have been on the rise.

For those looking to buy, Fort Lauderdale has a variety of neighborhoods to choose from, each with its own unique character and amenities. For example, the Las Olas area is known for its upscale dining and shopping options, while the Victoria Park neighborhood is popular for its tree-lined streets and historic homes.

If you’re interested in a more laid-back beach vibe, neighborhoods like Harbor Beach and Rio Vista might be a good fit. These areas offer access to some of the city’s most desirable beaches, as well as a variety of houses and condos for sale.

For renters, the options are just as varied. Fort Lauderdale has a range of apartment communities to choose from, as well as plenty of houses and townhomes available for rent. Prices can vary widely depending on location and amenities, but overall, the cost of renting in Fort Lauderdale is higher than the national average.

Despite the high demand and rising prices, Fort Lauderdale remains a desirable place to live, with a strong job market, a thriving arts and culture scene, and a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities. If you’re considering a move to the area, it’s worth researching the different neighborhoods and housing options to find the best fit for your needs and budget
